The Launching Ceremony of the Internal Training of Zhiheng Criminal Center and the First Phase of the Internal Training of the Criminal Center - "How Criminal Lawyers Receive Clients" was successfully held
On the afternoon of March 14, 2025, the launch ceremony for the internal training program of
’s Criminal Law Center, along with the first session—“How Criminal Lawyers Should Receive Clients”—was successfully held in the Zhiheng headquarters conference room. Liu Yunfa, Deputy Director of the Zhiheng Criminal Law Center and Director of the Commercial Crime Defense Department, served as the main speaker. Liu Yan, Senior Equity Partner at Zhiheng Xi’an, and Zhao Gang, Director of the Criminal Litigation Department at Zhiheng Jinan, were invited to share their insights. Zhang Nannan, a member of the Zhiheng Headquarters Management Committee and Director of the Criminal Law Center, provided commentary. Also in attendance were Chai Yongxia, Executive Director of Zhiheng Headquarters; Guo Liang, Deputy Director of the Criminal Law Center and Director of the Cybercrime Defense Department; and Liu Gang, Advisor to the Criminal Law Center, among others.
The event was chaired by Xing Tingting, Deputy Director of the Financial Crime Defense Department at the Criminal Justice Center.

Director Chai Yongxia first extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests who had traveled from afar, as well as to all participants in the event. Since its establishment, the Criminal Law Center has actively organized professional research and academic exchange activities, thereby strengthening Zhiheng’s specialization and talent development efforts. In the future, Zhiheng will disseminate its professional research findings through various channels, including case compilations, monograph publications, and product development. We look forward to the Criminal Law Center hoisting the sails of internal training, navigating the vast sea of expertise, strengthening its capabilities, and establishing a premier brand in criminal legal services, thereby contributing to the enhancement of the Zhiheng brand.

Director Zhang Nannan stated that, in the face of unprecedented opportunities and challenges in the legal services industry, only by strengthening internal capabilities can one ride the waves. The Zhiheng Criminal Law Center is committed to establishing itself as a premier national brand in criminal legal services. These internal training sessions are designed to help Zhiheng lawyers refine their expertise, embrace a long-term perspective, and further enhance the Zhiheng criminal defense brand.

Director Liu Yunfa, in his introduction of this internal training session, pointed out that the event is a concrete implementation of the resolutions adopted at the Director’s Meeting held on January 17, 2025, and constitutes one of the Criminal Center’s 14 key initiatives for 2025. This internal training initiative is one of the key measures undertaken by the Criminal Law Center, as a specialized center under Heng Headquarters, to align with the headquarters’ strategy of building strong, specialized firms, empowering lawyers, and enhancing the Zhiheng brand’s influence. It aims to strengthen the professional competence of lawyers who are passionate about criminal defense, particularly young attorneys, in the practical aspects of criminal law practice.
The Criminal Justice Center plans to release at least one internal training session each month. The four divisions under the center will each take responsibility for a specific training topic, meticulously prepare the content, and then deliver the training. At present, the training topics for April through December have all been finalized. Each department is diligently preparing their sessions according to the schedule, and internal training activities will be held monthly. Stay tuned!

The first internal training session was delivered by Director Liu Yunfa on the topic “How Criminal Lawyers Should Receive Clients.” Drawing on many years of professional experience, Director Liu Yunfa elaborated in detail on the methods and approaches for handling client consultations, covering aspects such as case‑source analysis, negotiation strategies, and risk prevention. He concluded that the core of client consultation lies in building trust; meticulous preparation is essential, and every word and action during the consultation must be handled with care to ensure strict compliance with regulatory requirements.

Attorney Liu Yan introduced her self‑summarized “three‑part case‑discussion toolkit” and shared her insights on delivering refined, high‑quality legal services. Lawyers can prepare in advance the “three‑part case‑presentation kit,” consisting of a case‑presentation PowerPoint, a compilation of relevant precedents, and a service‑delivery‑process checklist, to enhance their professional image through visual communication.

Director Zhao Gang focused his presentation on service pricing, offering an engaging and insightful account of his experience and best practices. He advised lawyers to adopt clear fee structures and emphasize differentiated services in order to better meet client needs.
