On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, the Ministry of Justice recently issued an announcement stating that, effective June 28, the “Lawyer Practice Certificate (Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area)” will be put into use. This certificate serves as a valid credential for Hong Kong legal practitioners and Macao‑qualified lawyers to practice law in the nine mainland cities of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area—namely Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, and Zhaoqing.
The launch of the Greater Bay Area practice certificates for Hong Kong and Macao lawyers enables legal practitioners from Hong Kong and licensed attorneys from Macao to leverage their professional expertise, which is of great significance in promoting the alignment of legal service rules and the integration of mechanisms within the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.
