On the afternoon of November 25, 2025, the second event of the “Nong Hao” Shanghai Dialect Club at Zhiheng (Shanghai) Law Firm, titled “66 Charming Phrases in the Haipai Lawyer Style,” was successfully held in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere! This event features a joint presentation by Professors Shen Xiang and Yang Xiaoyun, focusing on practical Shanghainese expressions in legal practice and providing an in-depth introduction to distinctive local dialect vocabulary. The aim is to help participants master basic Shanghainese expressions through engaging and lively language learning, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of communication in local legal services.

At the outset of the event, Attorney Wang Yali warmly greeted everyone with a friendly “Nong hao,” expressing her hope that today’s “66 Sweet Phrases” would not only help participants learn authentic Shanghainese but also serve as a unique bridge for lawyers to build trust with local clients and convey both professionalism and warmth.
Teacher Yang Xiaoyun first guided everyone in reviewing and learning the basic personal pronouns used in Shanghainese, and then expanded on uniquely Shanghai-specific vocabulary such as “yila” (they) and “fiao” (no/stop). Subsequently, Teacher Shen Xiang, drawing on practical applications in legal practice, carefully selected and explained common Shanghainese expressions frequently used when communicating with local clients in Shanghai, enabling participants to not only master effective communication techniques but also better integrate into the local culture.
The atmosphere at the event was lively, and everyone found it highly beneficial. The “Nong Hao” Club of Zhiheng Shanghai will continue to organize a series of themed activities centered on Shanghainese language learning, creating a platform for firm colleagues to engage in ongoing dialogue and mutual growth, together experiencing the charm of the Shanghainese dialect and fostering a sense of camaraderie within the team.
