The Criminal Law Professional Committee of Zhiheng Guangzhou Law Firm was officially established

As China’s rule-of-law development continues to deepen, criminal legal services, as an important component of the legal system, are increasingly required to be more specialized and refined. In response to the evolving demands of the times, with the aim of enhancing the professionalism and efficiency of criminal legal services and building the firm’s brand in the field of criminal practice, Zhiheng (Guangzhou) Law Firm has, after careful preparation, officially established a Criminal Law Practice Committee.

On the afternoon of August 9, 2024, Zhiheng (Guangzhou) Law Firm (hereinafter referred to as “Zhiheng Guangzhou”) solemnly held the inaugural meeting of its Criminal Law Professional Committee and a specialized seminar. This event not only marks an important milestone in the firm’s journey toward professional specialization but also represents a significant gathering of expertise in the field of criminal law, signaling a further deepening and expansion of the firm’s offerings in criminal legal services.

First, Lin Huiyan, Executive Director of Zhiheng Guangzhou, announced the official establishment of the “Criminal Law Professional Committee” and delivered a speech. Director Lin outlined the preparatory process and the significance of establishing the Criminal Law Professional Committee, and expressed his gratitude to those who contributed to the preparatory work. She stated that the establishment of the specialized committee marks another new starting point for the firm’s high-quality development at this stage.

Director Lin expressed several expectations for the Criminal Law Professional Committee, and he hopes that, under the leadership of Attorney Wei Yuanwen, the committee will continue to deepen its research into the firm’s criminal practice and enhance the criminal‑law skills of its attorneys.

Hiring of Expert Consultants

Director Wei Yuanwen presented letters of appointment as expert consultants to Attorney Ma Yuanbin, Senior Equity Partner at Zhiheng Guangzhou; Attorney Yue Xiongtao, Senior Equity Partner; and Attorney Liu Shibì, a member of the Criminal Compliance Committee for Enterprises Involved in Cases of the Guangdong Lawyers Association. Attorneys Ma Yuanbin, Yue Xiongtao, and Liu Shibì delivered enthusiastic addresses.

They extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the Criminal Law Professional Committee and offered valuable opinions and suggestions for its future development.

Presentation of Appointment Letters and Inaugural Address

Attorney Wei Yuanwen, Director of the Guangzhou Criminal Law Professional Committee of Zhiheng

Attorney Wei Yuanwen, Director of the Criminal Law Professional Committee, delivered an important address at the conference. Director Wei Yuanwen outlined the founding purpose, work objectives, and development plan of the Criminal Law Professional Committee, and set forth clear work requirements and expectations for its members. Upon its establishment, the Criminal Law Professional Committee will promptly commence relevant activities, including but not limited to organizing specialized training, conducting research on criminal law, and providing legal advisory services.

Director Wei stated that the specialized committee will continuously strengthen its internal development, enhance its service capabilities, and contribute to the advancement of criminal legal services within the industry.

At the inaugural meeting of the Criminal Law Professional Committee, Attorney Ma Yuanbin delivered a special presentation titled “Substantive Defense in Major, Difficult, and Complex Criminal Cases—With a Discussion on Cultivating Excellent Investigative Thinking and Habits.” He delved into how to employ substantive defense strategies when handling serious criminal cases, as well as how to cultivate efficient and precise investigative thinking and habits.

Attorney Ma’s presentation provided attendees with valuable insights, helping legal professionals enhance their expertise in the field of criminal defense and better safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of their clients.
