Zhiheng News | Lawyer Chen Liuhua was hired as a special lecturer for the "Legal Clinic Training" course at Dongguan Institute of Technology to analyze the problems of foreign-related civil litigation

Focusing on overcoming the challenges in cross-border litigation procedures.

On March 21, 2025, Attorney Chen LiuHua, a partner at Guangdong Zhiheng (Dongguan) Law Firm and a special lecturer for the “Legal Clinic Internship” course at the School of Law and Social Work of Dongguan University of Technology, delivered an in-depth lecture on the topic of “Practical Issues in Foreign-related Civil Litigation.” This course focuses on the three core procedural issues in cross-border dispute resolution, integrating the latest international conventions with domestic judicial practice. It constructs a three-dimensional knowledge framework—“rule analysis–case decoding–tool application”—for law students, helping them master the precise characterization of foreign-related cases, innovative practices in Hague authentication, rules for the use of foreign‑origin documents, and rules governing foreign service of process.

At the outset of the course, Attorney Chen Liu-hua first used the “cross-border marriage registration case,” the “Taobao cross-border shopping case,” the “Japanese‑invested controlled enterprise case,” and the “South Korean anchor infringement case” to help students gain a thorough understanding of the criteria for identifying foreign-related cases.

In the course, Attorney Chen Liuhua focuses on three major procedural challenges in foreign-related civil litigation: the qualification of parties and authorization of representation, the use of extraterritorial documents, and service of process. Through a detailed analysis of practical cases, she helps students gain a thorough understanding of the difficulties inherent in these procedures and the corresponding solutions.

This lecture marks the second time Attorney Chen Liuhua has been invited to serve as a specialized instructor, following her previous session on labor law, to share practical insights with law students from the School of Law and Social Work at Dongguan University of Technology. Looking ahead, Attorney Chen Liuhua will continue to deepen collaboration between universities and enterprises, leveraging her practical experience in cross-border dispute resolution to cultivate a new generation of professionals in the field of foreign-related rule of law, and to help Chinese lawyers gain a stronger voice in the realm of international procedural rules.
